There was a buzz in the air recently at Dunkirk High School as the large group instruction room was booked just for the college signing event for Champ Texidor and Sebastian DeGolier.

In attendance were family, coaches, teachers, school administration and classmates. A welcome was given by the school administration and former Dunkirk football coach Mike Sarratori spoke on behalf of the two young men.

Texidor and DeGolier took signing photos with family, coaches, teachers and administration.

Champ is the son of Dorothy Beilen and Samuel Texidor. Champ will attend Morrisville State University in New York, where he will play football as a defensive back. His specialty will be horticulture.

Champ wanted to express his gratitude to those who helped him succeed on this journey. “I would like to warmly thank my friends, my coaches, my parents and especially the teachers of Dunkirk who helped me to go so far”, he said. “Thank you.”

Sebastian is the son of Jayson and Amanda DeGolier. Sebastian will attend the University of Utica playing football as an offensive lineman and majoring in sports management.

Sebastian wanted to choose a university in which he felt comfortable. “Choosing a place for the next four years of your life will be one of the most important decisions you will make, so you want to make sure that the place you choose feels like home,” he said. “That’s how I feel about Utica.”

“Sebastian and Champ are perfect examples of the kinds of athleticism Dunkirk kids have, and in this case the football has grown. Both are respectful young men with a team-first mentality,” said Sarratori. “Sebastian and Champ have set goals in and out of athletics and are committed to achieving those goals. This accomplishment has been an accumulation of all the sacrifices these students/athletes and their families have made. I am honored to have been able to coach Sebastian and Champ and I can’t wait to watch them, with pride, as they progress. Two great young men.
