It was a great weekend for the Recorder region athletes at the annual Bay State Summer Games over the weekend.

Greenfield’s Tess Rancourt won gold on the track, winning the shot put with a 34-foot, 10-inch throw. Green Wave athlete Victoria Marin won silver medals in three events: the long jump (15-7), the 100-meter hurdles (16.01 seconds) and the high jump (5-0), while Emma Savoy was fourth in the triple jump with a jump of 29 feet, 9½ inches.

Miles Ferreira of Greenfield was ninth in the 100 (12.12 seconds) and 200 (24.94 seconds).

Mahar’s Cole Johnson was part of the silver medalist Western men’s football team, which won both of their round robin games before losing to Southeast / Coastal in the championship game. Frontier’s Hannah Mackin also won a silver medal in soccer, playing for a Western team that fell to the Northeast during a penalty shootout in the championship game.

The West field hockey team – which included Greenfield’s Rancourt, Madyson Kuchieski and Brielle Widelo – went 1-3 over the weekend, claiming their only victory over the South East on Saturday.

On the ice, Frontier’s Kevin Baumann was part of the Western men’s hockey team that went 1-1-1 in the tournament, defeating Central, tying Metro / Northeast and falling to Central. On the girls’ side, Cadence Wozniak of Turners Falls played for the West side who went 0-3 in the tournament.

Frontier’s Sydney Scanlon was on the West Volleyball team and the club won one game over the weekend.
