Students, athletes traveling abroad to obtain Covishield – The New Indian Express
BHUBANEWAR: Students and athletes preparing to travel overseas can get doses of Covishield within a 28-day interval instead of the mandatory 84 days, as the Union Department of Health has relaxed the standards to following requests from different neighborhoods.
The state government has ordered districts and municipalities to make special arrangements for people intending to undertake international travel for education, employment and sporting events. They were asked to designate a competent authority in each district to grant the authorization.
“The competent authority will verify the authenticity of the purpose of the trip on the basis of documents related to offers of admission or formal communications for further education, interview calls for a job or letters of offer for a job and nomination to participate in sporting events, ”said an official.
Meanwhile, the Department of Health has asked all districts to administer Covishield to those about to travel overseas as the vaccine is WHO approved.
While the vaccine is available in all districts, arrangements have been made at two locations for area beneficiaries of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC).
They can also get the Covishield vaccine at CMC Kalyan Mandap in Gopalpur, Cuttack or PN College, Khurda from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday to Friday (excluding holidays).
