Peterson named AD Associate for Compliance and Lead Administrator

SIOUX FALLS, SD – Augustana Athletic Director Josh Morton is pleased to announce the hiring of Madison Peterson as Associate DA for Compliance and Senior Administrator.

“One of the real joys of my role at Augustana is bringing talented people like Madison to our team,” Morton said. “She will be a leader in our department and we are thrilled to have the entire Peterson family at Augustana.”

Peterson has served as assistant athletic director for compliance and operations at Truman State since May 2018 and also served as senior administrator for the Bulldog Athletics Department. In addition to his duties at the institution, Peterson serves on the NCAA’s Academic Requirements Committee.

“I would like to thank the sports director, Josh Mortonfor this opportunity to join the Augustana Athletics Department,” said Peterson. “My family and I are so excited to join the Viking family and be part of the Sioux Falls community!

“I look forward to beginning to work with coaches and staff to help develop champion student-athletes.”

Before her, for four years at Truman State, Peterson was a compliance coordinator at the University of North Dakota. While at UND, she served as the liaison for student-athlete scholarship information, tracked team scholarship equivalency, and worked with the financial aid office.

Peterson began her career at the University of South Dakota where she earned an undergraduate degree in Kinesiology and Sports Science and continued with her Masters in Interdisciplinary Studies. It was during her graduate studies that she was the graduate assistant for compliance and was responsible for monitoring sport-related accounting activities for all sports.

As a student-athlete at SHU, Peterson won a three-year letter for the Coyote softball team, twice earning All-Summit League honors as a pitcher. She finished her career ranked third on the school’s all-time winning list and had rankings in starts, complete games, innings pitched, and strikeouts. Additionally, she was a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and Co-Chair of the Sport Management Alliance.

She interned with both the University of South Dakota Foundation and the Omaha Storm Chasers Triple-A baseball team.

Peterson and her husband, Zach, have a son, Johnny. She begins her duties at Augustana on August 29.
