Ludhiana: 1,100 school athletes take part in trials for the sports wing

A total of 1,177 athletes from local public schools participated in the trials organized by the state sports department at Guru Nanak Stadium, Ludhiana, for admission to various sports wings in the district.

A total of 1,177 athletes from local public schools participated in the trials organized by the state sports department at Guru Nanak Stadium, Ludhiana, for admission to various sports wings in the district.

While 717 players took part in Friday’s tryouts, a total of 460 players took part on Saturday. There are 400 places in Ludhiana Sports Wings and according to officials, selected students will get 100-200 each per day for food. The list of selected students will be released next week. Those selected will be required to deposit their respective school certificates with the sports department here as proof of registration.

On Saturday, students gave tryouts for judo, softball, weightlifting, lawn tennis, shooting, track and field, archery, basketball, badminton, soccer, wrestling and weightlifting.

    Paid parking contractors: PMC will take action against offenders

    Pune: To collect rent fees from parking contractors, the Pune Municipal Corporation will take the help of tax and legal departments. The Lands and Estates Department handed over the bidding process for the car parks to the Projects Department in October 2019. According to PMC, the Projects Department will seek assistance from its tax counterpart to attach defaulters’ personal assets to the contributions. He could also ask the legal department to take legal action against the defaulters.

    PUNE Maharashtra Home Minister Dilip Walse-Patil on Saturday demanded action against former Mumbai Narcotics Control Bureau area director Sameer Wankhede for falsely implicating the actor’s son of Bollywood Shah Rukh Khan, Aryan Khan in cruise drug case.
