Hugo Ekitike’s agent has thanked the striker for ‘never’ doubting him after securing a move to Paris Saint-Germain – just weeks after he blocked a move to Newcastle United.
Newcastle have revisited a move for Ekitike after the highly rated youngster did not feel ready to join the club in January. Newcastle had an offer accepted by Stade de Reims last month but the Magpies were unable to complete the deal as Ekitike’s representative Karl Mwalako Buchmann left his client’s options open.
PSG finally entered the race and agreed a season-long loan deal with an option to buy Ekitike last week. However, there was certainly no hard feelings towards the player from Newcastle’s perspective.

Instead, it was recognized that the Magpies were now taking on some of Europe’s elite clubs for their main goals, which would mean missing out on players at times. Eddie Howe, for his part, was keen to wish Ekitike well when he spoke about the pursuit for the first time over the weekend, describing the 20-year-old as a “real talent” who “could have do a great job for us.” .
Competition for places at PSG will be fierce, but Ekitike said it was both a “choice of the heart” and a “logical choice” to move to Parc des Princes. Ekitike has family in Paris, idolizes PSG star Kylian Mbappe and has followed the club since he was a young boy and Buchmann will certainly support his client to make a real impact in the French capital.
“Welcome Ekitike to PSG,” the agent wrote on Instagram. “Now I know that the future is not written anywhere. At only 20 years old and if you still have a lot to offer of your talent, I can already testify to your loyalty, your integrity and your courage. Thank you for not I never doubted me. I respect you for that little brother. You’re a real man. They didn’t believe in us. God did it!”
