Free agent WR Dede Westbrook speaks with the 49ers
It’s been roughly seven months since Westbrook suffered his torn ACL, and Anderson notes that the player expects to be completely erased within eight months. This means Westbrook should be ready for the start of training camp.
Westbrook recorded 66 seizures in 2018 and 2019 averaging 699 yards and four touchdowns per slate. He was hoping to build on those marks in 2020, but he was limited to just a pair of games thanks to the ripped ACL and an unrelated early season injury. We heard earlier this month that the Wideout is attracting the interest of several teams, and we later learned that the Bengals and Vikings were among its potential contenders. The wide receiver was also recruited by the Chiefs players.
The 49ers have used a lot of draft capital on misfires in recent years, and former first round Brandon Aiyuk and old second round Deebo Samuel should lead the depth chart. Westbrook should probably compete with people like Mohamed sanu, Richie james, and Jalen hurd for backup representatives.
