Fans enraged as LeBron James reportedly seeks to make big Lakers management changes

By on February 28, 2022 0

The Los Angeles Lakers haven’t been able to pull through this season. Even with the second half of the season upon them, they haven’t figured things out yet. Although the blame has been passed on to many people, it is clear that something needs to change within the organization. However, the one making the major change seems to be LeBron James himself. And the fans were not happy.

The management of the Lakers made a controversial choice by opting for Russell Westbrook during the offseason. Despite all the promises to make things work, things just didn’t work out for them. While Russ and Frank Vogel have been under fire for a while, it seems the focus is now on Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka.

So far, Pelinka has given LeBron what he wants and given him the freedom to shape the team. However, despite all this, it looks like Pelinka made the king’s cut list. Recently, LeBron has been deeply impressed with Sam Presti and wants him accountable.

LeBron James ready to make a big change?

Rob Pelinka is the man responsible for how the Lakers form each season. Although he did a great job for the most part, LeBron’s entry shifted the focus. James became the final word on the matter and was also the main reason the purple and gold went with Russell Westbrook. While that move didn’t work out, it seems James doesn’t like Pelinka in the front office. Therefore, he wants Oklahoma City Thunder’s Sam Presti to take charge according to an NBA general manager. And Lakers fans are fed up with their team.

Although these are just reports, Presti has a great history with the picks. As general manager, Presti has made good and bad choices throughout his tenure with Oklahoma. However, he was responsible for assembling one of the NBA’s top young drafting talents, Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook and James Harden in concurrent years. Moreover, he assembled a great roster around them and they even reached the final against LeBron James’ Miami Heat.

It’s safe to say that Sam Presti knows how to build a team. Plus, he understands Russell Westbrook well after spending all the years with him during his long tenure with the Thunder. With LeBron leading his final years, it looks like he’s trying to do anything to get another championship under his belt. But is this the solution?

There’s no guarantee the Lakers will get away with a new general manager. But the way Pelinka handled purple and gold, it didn’t seem to work with her own moves. Moreover, Presti has the experience and great basketball insight on his side. It’s safe to say Jeanie Buss and the Lakers have a big call to make.
