Dana White says Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski almost joined Las Vegas Raiders, UFC, Jon Gruden, reaction, agreement

UFC boss Dana White has just dropped a bombshell that has thrown the NFL world into meltdown.

You know how Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski teamed up one last time to take the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to Super Bowl glory against the Kansas City Chiefs?

Well, according to White, that almost didn’t happen – and Gronkowski himself seemed to confirm it.

Speaking on UFC 278 with The Gronks, White claimed he was behind a deal that would have sent Brady and Gronkowski to the Las Vegas Raiders instead.

White went so far as to say it was “almost a done deal” until former Raiders coach Jon Gruden allegedly “blew the deal off”.

You can read the full exchange between Gronkowski and White below and the reaction from the stunned NFL world.

GRONKOWSKY: “I also have another question for you. I know when Tom was a free agent about two or three years ago when he went to Tampa, you gave him a recruiting pitch on why he should join the Las Vegas Raiders. What was wrong with that recruiting pitch you gave him? »

WHITE: “Am I really telling this story now Gronk?” Do you want me to tell this story? »

GRONKOWSKY: “You can give a brief history. Don’t go into too much detail because you never know, I could have been in Vegas with you for the past three years.

WHITE: “You would have been. I worked to put together this deal for Brady and Gronk to come to the Raiders and it was almost a done deal and at the last minute Gruden blew the deal and said he didn’t want to them and everything broke loose. It was crazy. Brady was already looking at houses. There was no word yet that Gronk was coming, so Las Vegas would have had Brady and Gronk the year the Bucs won the Super Bowl, but Gruden blew the deal. There are so many stories that go along with this behind the scenes. I was never going to tell this story until Gronk told it.

GRONKOWSKY: “And Dana, that’s exactly what happened and you just told the story. It worked out for the best and I’m glad it didn’t come to fruition.
